GOING OVER

Summer: the perfect time for vacation! The Scriptures propose on time a wonderful journey to us. They call it Exodus. This great migration is necessary when life becomes hard like a nightmare (1st reading, monday). We have to be courageous and to draw the sword for this purpose, but this is not so easy because «one's enemies will be those of his household» (gospel, monday). If we are not fully aware of the need to be saved from the waters of the life (1st reading, tuesday), the power of God can't really change our story. God appears to Moses through his angel, «in fire flaming out of a bush» (Ex 3:2). Moses is surprised and therefore decides to move himself. He goes near and so he hears the voice of God, he discovers his name, he receives his mission. He also finds out that the place where he stands is holy. Moses takes the decision to go over and his life comes in connection with God's life. Going over is a very «childlike» (Mt 11:25) behaviour, because only a child has not fear to move himself, believing that «all things are handed over to» (Mt 11:27) him by the Father. Come one, let's pull out our childlike resources! Let's go over. Let's go deep. The exodus begins when we consent to change the shape of our identity, before the «remarkable sights» (Ex 3:3) God never stops to grant us.
