Friday of Week 14

Readings: Gn 46:1-7,28-30 / Ps 37 / Mt 10:16-23

DON'T WORRY

The whole liturgy today try to remove fear from our heart. We are scared of many thing. Sometimes we know the reason, sometimes we don't. God calls Jacob and tells him not to be afraid to go down to Egypt, in the land of a big and powerful ancient empire. In the gospel, Jesus sends the apostles like sheep in the midst of wolves saying to them: «Beware of men». What? Are Jesus serious? I'm more scared of wolves than men, and you? The word of God lead us to be aware that we are all called to become adults, in the life and in the faith, overtaking our fears. The greatest fear we keep inside us is the fear of a full life, that is a life full of love, a love able of living to the end. But this is exactly the witness we are called to live. Because, it could seem unbelievable, but God – yes the Almighty – needs our help to reveal his mercy and his love to the world! So we don't have to be worry to go down to the Egypt of our weakness and our sins, we don't get be scared of the wolves around our way. God remains always with us, especially in the places where we are not capable to be behind us. The Holy Spirit is our breath, our strength, even when we find hard to believe in his presence and feel his company. That's why we can answer to the God who call us by name, as Jacob did: «Here I am»!

Thank you, dear Roby, for your words of hope and faith! "The Holy Spirit is our breath..." How could my life change if I try to remind to myself this truth! Maybe I could live every "given-breath" as a place to receive His Love and to share it with everyone, wolves, friends, enemies, beloved He put in my every-day-life.
